Do you know how to choose a buoyancy control device or BCD? It’s also referred to as a buoyancy compensator. I am looking for my own one now as I have only used others from the dive center. Is it good to have your own buoyancy control device? I don’t really know as it means that I have to keep it in good condition.

The reason why a diver needs a BCD is so that it can provide emergency buoyancy under the water and on the surface of the water as well. You can adjust the buoyancy so that you remain at the level required even if you have heavy equipment on.

The ideas is so that you can achieve neutral buoyancy so that you stay at the same depth., or if needed to descend and ascend in a controlled way.

There are some good places online to buy a buoyancy compensator, so I am off to look for one and will report back on what I find. Maybe I’ll turn into one of those people who review buoyancy compensators so that other people can know what the best choice is.
